Amphitheatre Springs Up at The Shipyards

Spring 2010 marks the opening of The Shipyards’ amphitheatre and biking/walking trails. The terraced amphitheatre incorporates locally quarried limestone into it’s design and is built into a landscaped berm. It will be utilized for summer events, such as music festivals and concerts featuring our trademark spectacular sunsets.

Plans are to open the theatre, along with The Promenade, at the northwest side of The Shipyards property with a celebratory event in late spring 2010.

The Collingwood Shipyards built ships at it’s harbour location until it’s 1986 closure. For many years thereafter it was an abandoned industrial site. Because of this, the waterfront in the harbour area has been publicly inaccessible for a century. The award winning Shipyards development will eventually turn the 7 acre green space over to the Town of Collingwood, thereby making the waterfront harbour area accessible to the public.
