Blue Mountain Expansion Public Meeting

The Town of the Blue Mountains has issued a formal Notice of Application and Public Meeting with respect to Blue Mountain Resorts Ltd.’s plans to expand their operations to the far south end of the resort (“the Orchard”.)  According to the Notice, issued by the Planning Department of the Town, the resort’s request will be considered at this public meeting.  The expansion will include installation of night lighting, snowmaking lines, a new “six pack” chairlift.  Two new parking lots between Scenic Caves Road and Grey Road 19 are being proposed.

Some of the affected lands are in the Niagara Escarpment Commission’s Development Control Area, and some of the lands are within the jurisdiction of the Town of the Blue Mountains.  On the map shown above, the pink shaded area is under the control of the town, while the NEC’s jurisdiction is shown in green.  The town will be considering a Site Plan Approval and a Zoning By-law Amendment to remove the Holding (or “h” symbol) for the lands in pink.

The public meeting is scheduled for April 2, 2013, at the Town Hall Council Chambers, 32 Mill Street, Thornbury at 7:00 p.m.
