Considering a Cottage This Summer?

Wasaga Beach has long been a favourite for summer vacations. Generations have enjoyed family cottages but today, real estate prices have put the dream of cottage ownership out of reach for some people.

lakes-of-wasaga.jpgThere’s a rather unique alternative available that strikes me as a very feasible alternative.  The development known as “The Lakes of Wasaga” in Wasaga’s east end, is a lifestyle community where people can purchase a cottage under a land-lease concept.  Owners can use the cottages themselves during eleven months of the year and/or, put them in a rental pool.  I asked a rental staff member just last week about rental revenues and she indicated that they were easily sufficient to cover the costs for land lease, property maintenance, taxes, heat, hydro, etc.  With resale prices starting at about $120,000 and ranging up to about $179,000, most of these very cute cottages feature lofts, pond frontage, gas fireplaces, central air and many are fully equipped down to the forks and spoons.  New cottages are also available for sale.  There are onsite amenities and it’s about a ten to fifteen minute walk to the longest freshwater beach in the world.

If you are looking for an affordable cottage or, are considering renting one this summer, you might want to check this project out.
