Dags and Willow – one of Collingwood’s Best!

Do you love cheese?  How about the thrill of finding something different and special like imported jams, organic spreads, truffle oils or one-of-a-kind cheese boards?  If so, then you MUST make a visit to Dags and Willow Fine Cheese and Gourmet Shop on Pine Street behind Loblaws in Collingwood.

Named after the owners two dogs, the store opened in December 2005 after the owners, Kelly Siskind and Steven Epstein had great success selling their artisanal cheeses at the Collingwood Farmer’s Market that summer.  The term artisanal refers to cheeses that are handmade by small, independent cheese makers using traditional methods and trust me, you’ll find a stunning array of over 100 choices to please every palette.  It may even become a hobby for you much like wine tasting as you experience different flavours and textures over time.

Fans include Oliver Bonacini , tthe folks at Toronto Life magazine . and even Michael Stadtländer of Eigensinn Farm (he’s consider one of the ten best chefs on the planet. )

Dags and Willow will host cheese tasting parties upon request and can also prepare gift baskets.  Be sure to drop in to grab some New Year’s nibblies and I guarantee it won’t be your last visit.

I too am a fan of Dags & Willow. It’s difficult to visit that store without coming out with a bag of exquisite cheeses. Not just one – we usually get at least half-a-dozen pieces every time. It’s a real delight.
They have so many other delictable things to eat. We’re very fortunate not to eat meat, because I suspect their meat offerings are equally good. We have to suffice with their extensive selection of international cheeses.

Glad to hear you love it as much as we do. My weakness is the maple confit with boursin… oooo, just typing that made my mouth water. Thanks for commenting Ian and Happy New Year!
