Guess Which Town Has An Average Building Permit Value of a Million Bucks

You guessed it. It would appear that the Town of Blue Mountains continues to be the highest value neighbourhood in our South Georgian Bay area and, continues to attract high net worth individuals to the town.

Bldg permit values

I came across this little gem of a report the other day on the Town of Blue Mountains website.  It’s a month by month report on building permit activity in the Town and what jumped out at me is that 52 residential dwelling unit permits were issued in the first 9 months of the year with a total estimated construction value of over $52 million.  That’s pretty much an average of a million dollars a home.

Unfortunately, the Town of Collingwood doesn’t appear to have a report that is broken down so nicely for comparison sake however, according to our own MLS® statistics from the South Georgian Bay Association of Realtors, the 12 month average resale price of a home in Collingwood was $316,866 as of the end of September compared to $528,505 in the Town of Blue Mountains.

What a difference a few kilometers can make.

But we have higher taxes than Blue Mountains. Is that a plus – or not?

Did you see our post comparing tax rates at http://blog.collingwood-bluemountain.com/2013-vs-2012-tax-rates/? I’m impressed Pennie! I doubt it makes a difference when you are building $1 million plus home. We’re proud of our high taxes! ha ha.

I’m not sure how many permits Windfall has taken out yet or when so can’t answer that specific questions but, I certainly agree with you that it’s going to be a great site.
