Celebrate in the Village with free activities all day ~ street performers, live music, guided family hikes, gondola rides, splash fountain, scavenger hunts, Movies Under The Stars. Plus…Plunge! Celebrate the country in which we live and the community we call home at the Collingwood Festival for Canada, Saturday, June 29th to Monday, July 1st in Downtown Collingwood!  Enjoy a full line-up of activities for the entire family including pancake breakfasts, a fishing derby, strolling entertainment, live music, and the annual Collingwood Idol Singing Competition.  Of course Canada Day wouldn’t be complete without the traditional Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony, gigantic Canada Day birthday cake, and spectacular fireworks!

Collingwood Idol registration is open now! Sign up for a reserved audition time at one of the two qualifying rounds. Additional audition times will be available for walk up registrations on a first come first served basis. This year’s celebrity judges are Drew Wright, Jason Redman, Stephen Hanmore, and DJ Lenny.  Registration forms are available at www.collingwood.ca/specialevents


Monday, July 1 – 46th Duntroon to Stayner 8km Road Race Duntroon Elementary School, follows County Rd 91 and ends at the Stayner Community Centre Started in 1967 in celebration of Canada’s Centennial, the race welcomes walkers, cyclists and runners. Trophies and crests awarded.

From the Stayner SunStayner residents will be able to celebrate the country’s 146th birthday by attending a special Music in the Park concert.  The summer concert series is organized by The Stayner Chamber of Commerce and normally takes place on Thursday nights from late June to the end of August.  But in celebration of Canada Day, a special Monday, July 1 presentation is planned.

The fun takes place at Station Park, corner of Main and Huron streets, and gets underway at 6 p.m. with a free barbecue, featuring hamburgers and hotdogs.  At 7 p.m., a concert with Adrien Robitaille will kick off. He’s an Orillian troubadour who performs songs made famous by another ‘Sunshine City’ entertainer, Gordon Lightfoot.  50/50 Draw, fun, cake, and bring a lawn chair!

Creemore – Canada Day Street Hockey Tournament Between Elizabeth Street East Between The Old Millhouse Pub and the Creemore Springs Brewery There will be a BEER GARDEN with LIVE MUSIC. Put your team together or join as an individual at the pub. $10/player. $5/person shootout, winner gets half the kitty. Preregister please!  http://www.thecreemoreecho.com/

The Town of Wasaga Beach will be celebrating Canada’s birthday. This year activities include inflatable’s, Rock Wall, face painting and much more.
