You might be surprised to know that you could encounter a health hazard from asbestos. Recently, I was in a house that had thick cloth and fibre wrapping about some boiler pipes. It was cracked and torn in places and later, identified to be asbestos. Since friable (loose or disturbed) asbestos is a potential health concern, material such as this should absolutely be removed only by a qualified specialist. Did you know asbestos can also be found in plaster walls, insulation, in floor tiles, ceiling tiles, siding and in roof shingles? Before you renovate, please do a little homework and read this.
