Lights Out Collingwood and Creemore

Starting at midnight tonight through to tomorrow (Sunday) morning at 10:00 a.m., Hydro One has scheduled a planned power outage affecting all of Collingwood and Creemore so that a major system upgrade can be completed.

The Fire Department reminds us that flashlights and other battery-powered lights are safer sources of light than candles during a power failure. Never use a candle during a power outage to look for things in a closet, or when fueling equipment – such as a lantern or kerosene heater.

So, forget toast and coffee for breakfast and I doubt any of the local restaurants will be open on Sunday morning.  I guess cereal is on order for that day.  Someone suggested to me that it may also be a good idea to throw some ice blocks into the freezer as ten hours is a pretty long time.  I’d add a reminder too that this means sump pumps will not be working however, if there are substantial rains, the outage will be postponed to September 21st.  Any other suggestions or reminders out there?
