The Smoke is One of Collingwood’s Newest Restaurants

The SmokeGees, they’ve only been open about six weeks and they already have over 300 “Likes” on Facebook and already have reviews on Yelp, Trip Advisor and FourSquare.  It seems that The Smoke has captured some attention around town.

The Smoke is an eat-in and take-out eatery located on the south side of First Street between Kamakaze and Ashanti Coffee in Collingwood.  They specialize in preparing and serving fresh smoked meats.  The minute you walk in the door, the aroma hits the senses and in my case, started the taste bud dance.  The interior was larger than I expected and so far after two lunches and one dinner, I’m reasonably impressed.

You can check out the menus on their website and it is pretty extensive.  I found the service to be very good.  Most meat dishes are served on asampler platter metal platter which some have complained is not heated however, I found it to be just fine.  A selection of four different sauces is found on each table which you can mix and match as you please.  This is perfect for the people who like to play with their food. Her is a picture of sampler platter – easily enough for two!

I’m not a trained reviewer so take my comments for what they are worth but I can tell you I love food.  I also eat a Primal diet and this is one of the easier restaurants for me to enjoy in the area.  So far, it’s been perfectly tasty and something different from main stream fare. Not spectacular but certainly tasty and fair value for the money.  The portions are large, the meat well cooked and the produce fresh.  I love the homemade coleslaw side and would go back just for that alone.
