What’s In A Name ~ like Blueski George?

In the Nipissing Ridge area of Craigleith, there is a road named Blueski George.  I’ve often wondered how this unusual name came to be and recently, I found out.blueski-george-sign.jpg

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had the good fortune of speaking with Mr. George Fleming who is the developer of that area.  After I finally finished questioning him with my many questions about his lineage and about the history of the area, he said, aren’t you going to ask me about the name Blueski George?  Apparently, it’s the most common question he gets up here.

So here is the answer.  It’s a contraction of Blue Mountain, Skiing and Georgian Bay.
Now you know.
